Job Description:

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality of purchased components and assures continuous improvement of supply base. Incumbent is responsible for monitoring and correcting quality issues of designated supplier(s).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate change management process for supplier-related activities/changes.
  • Track ongoing supplier performance and efficiency through monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in conjunction with the QA Department.
  • Conducts periodic and special surveys of supplier facilities and manufacturing process to determine adequacy and capability of quality control and ability to comply with complete specifications.
  • Initiate supplier-related 8D’s (or equivalent) to resolve nonconformance, delivery, warranty and/or other performance issues as necessary; communicate with the relevant supplier, and ensure timely closure and effectiveness.
  • Interface with Quality Engineers, inspectors, production associates, and suppliers to resolve customer complaints resulting from supplier-related quality problems.
  • Perform or direct the inspection of purchased direct materials as needed; support processing and disposition of supplier non-conformances.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Extensive experience with SAP
  • BS in a Technical Field and/or equivalent experience
  • 2 to 4 years of quality or purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment (including Co-Op experience)
  • Knowledge of ISO or TS 16949 and ISO 14001 standards
  • Knowledge of process flow charts, FMEAs, and control plans

Preferred Skills:

  • Internal Auditor and/or Quality Engineer Certification(s)
  • Experience in quality measurement and testing activities, including general knowledge of CMM equipment, and ability to operate either the Faro or Romer portable measuring devices.
  • Experience with TS 16949 / QS9000 and internal audit procedures/methods
  • Additional education and/or formal training in Six Sigma and lean principles
