The Tactical Planner/Buyer satisfies requirements for spare parts, production, and machine sales (options) and meets availability, fill rate and inventory turns’ targets. He/she maintains planning parameters, oversees material requirements planning (MRP), manages tactical purchasing, and ensures system integrity in SAP.

  • Provide internal and external customers with reliable availability dates and actively reduces stock-outs

  • Work directly with production, supply chain, service, sales and customer support personnel.

  • Achieve customer fill rate, inventory (cost) targets and other related team KPIs.

  • Analyze demand history, maintain forecasts and integrate sales input to determine proper stock levels.

  • Oversee material requirements planning (MRP).

  • Manage tactical purchases.

  • Establish and maintain planning parameters related to forecasting, reorder point and safety stock.

  • Create purchase orders, interface with vendors, expedite critical requirements and ensure timely arrival of product.

  • Maintain SAP integrity.

  • Reduce excess inventory by returning to supplier, transferring to other facilities, or recommending for scrap.

  • Maintain product lifecycle and excess and obsolescence (E&O) programs.

  • Maintain relationships/contacts with customer and vendors.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business/related or equivalent work experience

  • 3 years of experience utilizing MPS, MRP, and forecasting modules

  • APICS/CPI certification or equivalent

  • Desire and ability to work in fast paced manufacturing environment

  • Tactical purchasing experience

  • Verbal/written communication skills

  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed

  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions

  • Ability to analyze and present data effectively

  • Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines

  • Mental capacity to make sound decisions and to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

  • Ability to multitask, solve problems, manage time, adapt to changing work conditions, and shift priorities in a fast paced environment

  • Superior organizational skills, strong quality orientation, and high attention to detail

  • Proven ability to work well both independently and in a team environment

  • Knowledge of and adherence to occupational hazards and standard safety practices
