Our client is looking to hire a strong, career-driven Finance Manager to work on a permanent basis in their new, state-of-the-art mill, located in Crawford County, MI (Northern Michigan)! They are a global leader in wood product manufacturing.

FINANCE MANAGER

Essential Duties:
•Manage the mill Finance team/direct reports, ensuring that all members have goals and objectives’ and are actively working towards them.
•Ownership along with the Cost Accountant of mill standard cost inputs in SAP and site focal point for training and education on SAP.
•Coordinate month end closing and reporting for the site of information to corporate accounting team (inventories, production, accruals, etc.)
•Mill financial statement review and analysis of actual variances against standards.
•Communicate monthly results to mill management team.
•Responsible for overseeing the daily reconciliation of the production accounting system to SAP by the Cost Accountant.
•Develop reporting tools to support value enhancement.
•Integral role in the annual planning process for the mill ensuring a timely and accurate budget.
•Responsible for annual property tax returns and various required tax incentive filings.
•Responsible for sales and use tax calculations and compliance.
•Responsible for any energy management, environmental or other incentive program compliance including tracking and reporting.
•Ability to work in team-based, multi-disciplinary environment.
•Prepare financial analysis and decision support on capital projects and operating postures.
•Ensure mill fixed asset ledger is accurate and up-to-date.
•Ensure adequate internal controls are in place and being followed at the mill, and that all required SOX verifications are completed on a timely basis.
•Ensure that all accounting related policies and procedures are being followed at the mill.
•Provide timely and accurate financial information to the management team to facilitate optimal decision making.
•Provide support to internal and external audit process as required.
•Special Projects as assigned by Mill Management, Operational Controller and the Corporate Controller’s office.
•Integral member of Mill Leadership Team and the North American Finance Team.
•Take a leadership role in Safety for the administrative office, including participation in safety training and required meetings.

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting or Finance and/or recognized Professional Accounting Designation.
•Prior experience in finance/accounting for a manufacturing company is preferred.
•Prior experience with product costing in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.
•Knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
•Prior experience using SAP in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
•Ability to read and understand financial statements.
•Strong analytical skills – including ability to solve for algebraic variables. Need highly organized person,
•Ability to take a general question, dig through detailed data, and deliver meaningful, concise, written or oral report that drives positive business decision making.
•Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Knowledge of pivot tables, advanced formulas are beneficial.
•Ability to speak in front of mill team – including preparing presentation for team meetings.
•Must have ability to understand difference between total cost and cost per unit and their respective values in spotting trends
•Ability to travel (25% travel for first 18 months) as required for System Training and Other Initiatives requiring finance representation.
