The primary function of this role during the first 18 months will be related to capital project accounting. Once the mill is operational, the role will be primarily product costing for the site,.

Essential Duties:

• Responsible for budget and cost control spending reporting of the site capital project investment, including actual spending and forecasting and analysis
• Liason with contract managers expediting resolution of cost events experienced throughout plant construction (tracking contract hours, timesheets, rates, etc)
• Maintain capital project structure ensuring accurate coding purchase orders throughout the project
• Develop reporting tools to support value enhancement.
• Responsible for any incentive program compliance including tracking and reporting.
• Ability to work in team-based, multi-disciplinary environment.
• Prepare financial analysis and decision support on capital projects and operating postures.
• Ensure mill fixed asset ledger is accurate and up-to-date.
• Ensure adequate internal controls are in place and being followed at the mill, and that all required SOX verifications are completed on a timely basis.
• Once mill is operational, ownership of mill standard cost inputs in SAP and site support for training and education on SAP.
• Mill financial statement review and analysis of actual variances against standards.
• Ensure that all accounting related policies and procedures are being followed at the mill.
• Provide timely and accurate financial information to the management team to facilitate optimal decision making.
• Provide support to internal and external audit process as required.
• Special Projects as assigned by Mill Management, Operational Controller and the Corporate Controller’ s office.
• Integral member of Mill Leadership Team and the North American Finance Team.
• Take a leadership role in Safety for the administrative office, including participation in safety training and required meetings.

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting or Finance and/or recognized Professional Accounting Designation.
• Prior experience in finance / accounting for a manufacturing company is preferred.
• Prior experience with product costing (monitoring standards, looking at production orders and budgets, looking for trends, monitoring costing variances) in a manufacturing environment is preferred
• Prior experience in project accounting in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Prior experience using SAP in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Ability to read and understand financial statements.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Ability to take a general question, dig through detailed data, and deliver meaningful, concise, written, or oral report that drives positive business decision making.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Knowledge of pivot tables and advanced formulas are beneficial.
• Ability to speak in front of mill team – including preparing presentation for team meetings.
• Must have ability to understand difference between total cost and cost per unit and their respective values in spotting trends
